Referrals can be made either by telephone or email. Upon referral, I will schedule an appointment date and time for the client to come in for the assessment. Prior to conducting the assessment, I need to receive an instruction letter clarifying the nature of the assessment and the opinion being sought.
The turnaround time for the reports depends on a variety of factors, most notably the complexity of the case and the volume of medical records to review. In general, the reports are usually completed within two weeks of the assessment date. In some circumstances, expedited assessments can be completed within a week, with an associated surcharge.
The length of the assessment interview varies depending on the complexity of the case and the amount of information that needs to be reviewed. In general, I suggest that clients plan to be at the assessment for an entire day. This ensures that we are able to get through all of the information without having to rush. The assessments typically start at 9:00AM and often end sometime in the early afternoon. Breaks are taken for lunch and as often as is required by the client.
This is largely dependent on my schedule, which fluctuates over the course of the year. Generally speaking, most assessments can be scheduled within one to two months.
The fee for the assessments varies considerably as a function of the complexity and time required for the assessment. The assessments are billed on an hourly basis and includes all of the preparation time, file review, interview time, test scoring and report writing. Please contact me for more information about my hourly rate.
Yes. In 2013, the Federal budget introduced changes to the GST rules around medical reports and related services for non-health care purposes. As a result, taxable services include the preparation of reports and examinations performed solely for the purposes of determining liability in a court proceeding or under and insurance claim. This includes expert opinion reports, medical legal reports, expert witness fees and review of medical documentation for a third party.
The assessment interview takes place at my office in North Vancouver. Please see the "Contact" page for more information and directions. I will also travel to do assessments when the client is unable to attend my office in person. For such assessments, there are additional fees for travel time and cost.

Scheduled assessments can be cancelled up to a week prior to the date of the assessment without a late cancellation fee. Assessments cancelled with less than two full week's notice or in which the client does not attend the assessment are billed a cancellation fee.
